Prisons week

Peter Sibley would like you to know about Prisons Week - a week of prayer.

He writes, "As Chaplain of a residential home/halfway house for ex-prisoners, I have been asked to remind people 10th – 16th October, is Prisons week."

Until recently our local MP, Alex Chalk, had responsibility for prisons. Rachel, the local bishop of Gloucester speaks on behalf of the Church of England for prisons.

"Remember the prisoners as if chained with them — those who are mistreated— since you yourselves are in the body also." Hebrews 13:3.

My eyes were opened to the lingering touches of the GDR and the distrust sewn between families, friends, and neighbors through 40 years of occupation. During a tour of the Statsi Prison in Berlin, I was able to slip away from the group and capture the empty hall where so many experienced the horrors of oppression and false-accusation.
